Welcome Aboard !

Assuming you're referring to a motorhome (as opposed to a trailer) to get more accurate answers, you need to clarify whether you mean the chassis battery (the one that's used to start the engine) or the coach battery (the one that runs the lights, water pump, etc) of the RV.

What year and model is the RV ? In some, the shore power only charges the coach battery, and in others it charges both the chassis and coach batteries.

Hello
Thanks you for your reply,
I have a Thor Windsport 34R 2018.
It is the Chassis battery which is losing its charge.

Many thanks
Frankjohn

Welcome aboard and to answer the question yes the shore power should charge the main coach batteries. I would first check the water level on the batteries.

Coach battery

On some coaches if you hit the house power switch more than once it can toggle from charging to not charging the house batteries with the shore power plugged in.

You will need to put a voltmeter on the house batteries and toggle the switch to see when the voltage jumps over 13v.

On most Class C’s the shore power does not charge the chassis (engine starting battery). You can install this to let the house batteries keep the chassis battery charged when the motor is not running and you are plugged into shore power.
