Entry step won’t retract

Yer weeks of traveling the entry step won’t retract when the doors closes. It still retracts when the inhibition starts (thankfully). but when I turn off the engine and open the door it extends but won’t retract when the door closes.

Any ideas where the fault may lie?

Status of your "Step" switch? Normal operation when the switch is engaged so the step doesn't go in and out while you're stationary (at a campsite) every time the door is opened.

Also, including Make/Year/Model of coach gets you more targeted answers.

Check and make sure you oh are getting a good ground. Verify you are getting power. If so sounds like motor is going bad. If you change the motor replace gear box, easy. Have a good day.

All the wires seems to be intact and grounded. I’m hooked up to power now and it still won’t retract when the door shuts. Only when I start the engine with the door closed.

That’s was it. The step switch.
