Hot water heater

So our first camping trip in out Thor A29. Hot water heater switch is on electric instead of gas but pilot flame is still lighting like it is on propane?

Welcome to the forum. A 2022 coach, so do you operate the water heater gas and electric options via touch pad multiplex control system.......or via actual mechanical switches? If via mechanical switches then it sounds like the gas enable switch has failed in the on position (even if it is physically turned off). A multimeter can confirm this if you can access the electrical connections on the back of the switch. If you have a touch pad multiplex system you might need to follow that vendors procedure to reset the control system.

Is there a chance you have both turned on? If so it's perfectly fine, have done so regularly when taking several showers in a row to recover hot water faster.
Technically it's a water heater, if it were a hot water heater you wouldn't need to heat it. LOL!
