Why 2 Black Water valves?

Newbie here with a 2018 Chateau 26B. I am wondering why on my rig I have valves on both sides to empty my blackwater. To empty I first need to pull the valve on the door side directly under the toliet. U can hear it emptying when i do. I then go to the service side and pull the other valve which will then flow out the hose. Why is there a 2nd valve on the other side? What is its purpose? I have never seen another rig set up like that. Is there 2 seperate black water tanks?
