The plug is fine, something pulled 3 of the wires off the motor, the plastic cover at the top of the motor was broken.

The symptoms are...

push the extend button, slide moves 2" and stops.
push the retract button, slides closes the 2".

We found a work around.
after each extend push, push the retract button till you hear th motor start.. LET it go, push extend, slides moves 2" and stops, repeat till full open or closed.
