I always use a regulator. No downside. There are too many potential problems with unknown water supplies. Even if you check the pressure at hookup it could change for any number of reasons. Like maybe late at night when overall campground demand is low. Then you blow out a fitting and it’s midnight on a Sunday and your 1000 mikes from home....
