Injector Wires

Had an interesting day today, in the bad sense. The wife and I went out to the RV storage lot this morning to do some work on the coach. When we got there I fired it up and the check engine light came on, and the engine seemed to be running a little rough. The engine light stayed on, so I called Ford roadside assistance. Luckily they located a dealer about 15 miles away that could look at the coach. So I drove it out there. On the way the check engine light started flashing. So, I'm thinking this isn't good. The Ford representative had assured me on the phone that it would be alright to drive the coach that far, so I kept going. Got to the dealership and after about two hours they tell me that three of the injector wire assemblies need to be replaced because it looks like rodents had chewed through them. And guess what? Not covered by warranty. So $500 later, which was mostly labor, we are back running again.

Anyone else had a problem with rodents chewing up wiring? If so, what besides mothballs is good at keeping them out?
