As the last connection made is the black jumper to a good grounded part on the dead vehicle. This is to ensure any spark created from the connection is far away from the dead (possibly gaseous) battery.

Well the officer connected the charger to the battery but good news. After sitting for a week. I finally got a guy to come out and look at it this morning and it started right up! Good enough for me for now! I got it parked in mom's driveway now and hooked up to the 30 amp outlet we had installed. There it will sit until this quarantine is over and I can drive it to a repair place for some much needed work and some updates.
