My Seiki models do not have the QAM tuner capability. When the TVs go to the search menu there is no QAM option. So my models will not search and find encoded channels. The times where it scanned cable channels the parks either had dish (DTV) or some obscure non-encoded cable system. Those the Seikis could detect; encoded systems - not so much. Apparently the Saikyo in the bedroom has a QAM tuner because it has always detected all cable channels. Also any other owners who said they had no problems must have Seikis with a QAM function. On mine there are no QAM choices to select on the setup (scan) menus.
