Perhaps just infant mortality? Maybe the quality of the devices being installed maximize the Dealer profit (buy cheap, sell high - plus labour). It is also not unusual these days to buy any device that fails to work even on day one....not just for RV's. Quality assurance/control seems to be a cost many Manufacturers have let slide.....and much of that is because if you are the only game in town, where else are you going to go?
Failing that, maybe converter output issues or maybe damaged coach batteries that are drawing higher charge currents which may burn the use/store contacts if you are turning the latch relay on/off a lot? It would be interesting to know what failed in the removed latch relays.....it could just be a mechanical failure of the latch mechanism.
