I was thinking he had the house A/C running while he was driving versus the chassis A/C. I tend to think most of the forum posts are RV related vs auto related.

That being the case.... I have another suggestion.

Low freon can certainly cause the chassis compressor to cycle on and off. However, I have a very lightly used 2002 Lexus ES300 and two years ago the same thing was happening. It would be cold.... then blow warm error. If I turned the A/C off at the dash and then on again, it would work for a bit and then go back to blowing cold air.

After a little online research, I discovered there is a relay in the power distribution box under the hood for the compressor that can go bad and cause this to occur. I picked up the relay at Autozone for $20 and it fixed the problem.
