After I installed a Green Diesel Engineering Tune, I can make it from just north of Pittsburgh, PA to Cape Coral, FL (~1200 miles) stopping only once for fuel with a 21 gallon tank.

If other companies can also provide such fuel-economy improvements as Ford with the Maverick, using so little battery capacity, I would speculate that development of new light diesel vehicles is coming to an end. Minor electrification seems as fuel efficient and perhaps lower cost too. I think Diesel engines will endure for a while, but for much heavier commercial vehicles. Just my guess after seeing Ford and RAM step away from some light diesel applications.
