Good news! Hubby came home pulled the latch just a little harder then I did and it opened. It seems as though because the RV was unlevel (even just a little), the latch was catching. In our rush to get things ready to leave early the next day, racing all day in the heat, then coming home exhausted, pulling the spare keys out was the last thing we thought to do! Didn’t make that mistake again lol! Thank you for all the suggestions!!

Look at the latch and adjust it as necessary, mine was out of adjustment from the factory and hard to close and open now it can be clicked closed with one finger it's so easy to adjust.
