That is quite the comprehensive thread on this issue. What an eye-opener. I bought my Axis from a consignment lot and drove it 500 miles back home without an issue. I wonder if the cable was roasting near the hot manifold all that time, or if pulling our toad up a steep grade was what did it? All I know is that even if they make some changes to the routing of the new cable, I'm going to make sure it meets MY standards.
I can't believe there hasn't been a forced recall on this potentially hazardous quality control failure. Even though I bought this machine used, it's still one of the single most expensive purchases I've made (aside from my current home). For such a late-model low-mileage unit, it's just unacceptable.
