You should hear a click - not so much from the switch, but from the solenoid it activates... Only the first time you press use or store. (Pressing the same direction again will not click,)

But even better, does anything else 12v work when unplugged / not running Genny??
Interior lights, water pump, fridge on propane, CO/LP detector??
