I actually thought of popping them off and doing my own stencils and paint a few months ago. & it did cross my mind about engraving them, but i quickly dismissed the idea as too much trouble for me in my situation.... especially after you posted this source!
I don't readily know an engraver, although I'll bet the local trophy store could do it.... but I work in the opposite direction and can never get there when they are open. For other folks though, it's maybe even a better idea..... since it would be more permanent.
