Removal of batteries for the winter

If i remove the engine battery for the winter from my 2019 Mercedes Freedom Elite, will it do anything to the engine??

I read somewhere that it may reset the computer chips in the engine.

Why not just leave that battery in place, and start your rig up about once a Month?

I try to drive my rig about 20 miles each winter month. Usually run the generator and an electric space heater while doing so. In addition to keeping the batteries (coach and house) charged it keeps the brakes and generator from rusting and the various driveline seals lubed. If starting/driving was not possible I might take all the batteries out so I could leave them on a battery tender. It likely would cause the engine computer (and the radio!) to lose its memory but it won’t be a problem. The engine and transmission computers will just go back to default settings and re-learn when put back in service. Good luck!

I did that with my old camper but when it gets below freezing the battery still seem to go dead. And I worry about damage to the battery because of the cold.

How long did you used to let it sit, before the battery would be discharged to the point of uselessness?
Normally; a healthy battery can easily withstand a Month of sitting, during a harsh Winter...

Alternately: what about figuring out a way to hook it up to a battery maintainer?

A fully charged battery can handle the cold. We leave ours disconnected all winter (put disconnects on both batteries).

I do run both the engine and generator frequently during the winter.

These things aren't at all like "Pet Rocks": they're much more like Babies, and require some burping and diaper changing along the way...
