Roof construction
Anyone here have a picture of the roof before the membrane is laid on? I have a section about 2ft wide that is lifting under the material. It looks like there is a curved piece that forms the transition from horizontal to vertical--that has lifted and I can push it back down. Can see screw head bumps. Wondering if screws pulled loose or material has failed?
Thanks.
Joe

Walker,
Don't know if I should thank you for the video link--that is scary bad work for a top-line fiver. If mine looks like that, I am in for some trouble down the road.
It does show the exact place I am concerned with, but don't know why the screws came loose. There seems to be a sufficient number based on the bumps in the material to indicate loose screws, problem I have is if the wood is compromised. Can't do anything without a slit in the membrane, got to wait til I know I have dry weather ahead for some days, and warm also. Tucson ought to do it.
Thanks for the video, helped immensely.
Joe

We're at Demontrond RV, or we will be Monday getting a Spray on Roof to replace the membrane roof that our original hail storm damaged. They are replacing the roof radius on both sides and will re-screw the plywood down.
Yea, When I found that video I finally came to grips with the true quality we're dealing with.

Well this also explains why some of my upper cabinets get warm when I’m in the sun. As some of those bats look a little short.

So far, from the video, it is called Extreme Everguard by GAF:
https://www.gaf.com/en-us/document-l...e_brochure.pdf
The installer is in Fort Oglethorpe, GA, but can't find the actual install company name yet. It is TPO membrane. This may be the shop:
https://www.rvroofinstall.com/
The tag on the rear of the Suites shows to have been sold by RVs4Less. Also it mentions something named Custom Coach is getting billed for the replacement.
Walker,
This is one time I could only hope for a hailstorm....

HUGE waste of money with all the curbs!!! It's NOT a flat rood that is where the curbs would be a good idea.
I dealt with this stuff in my career as a Construction Superintendent. The fact is there are more places to have a potential leak with these curbs, look at all the seams on the "special" satellite curb for example.
Nice product but please show me where the original product failed???

Ron,
I don't understand the curbs either. But looking at my roof, and use of masking tape to cover joints and too few screws lets me understand why my roof seams are lifting/curved section is lifting. It is a very revealing video about DRV construction shortcuts.

Completely agree!!! But the whole roof replacement was a BIG joke in my opinion. Wondering what the $$$ was???

I contacted that shop and was quoted around $8400, with about $1000 of that going to the removal/replacement of the solar panels.
If I can't get the curved metal section to stay down (one thing for sure, it will require cuts into the membrane and Eternabond over them) then will be looking at something like the video---maybe RVRoofArmor is a consideration.

I think the roof armor, bed liner, Linex is about 10k. But comes with a lifetime warranty.

We're at $8800 for our DRV Memphis Roof. With the radius edges replaced. We already bought new vent covers and AC covers due to the hail damage. They, Demontrond, said they'll screw down whatever decking we have loose before spraying. Different locations might have different pricing due to local labor rates. Friend that got his done in the Dallas area was the same price even though they are 8 feet shorter. Mississippi might be even cheaper.
And yes this has a lifetime warranty. Even if you add something later, they can do touch-ups to the new installation. It would be a PITA to set up solar, but if you could mount all the feet, layout all the wiring and have them spray over everything, you would never have a leak issue.

"If I can't get the curved metal section to stay down (one thing for sure, it will require cuts into the membrane and Eternabond over them)"
Why not put Eternabond over the questionable areas? Forget the cutting part.

Ron,
Idea is to get the metal curve to set back down--that is going to require screws or more staples. To get a screw in....slit in membrane?
Eternabond is not going to force the underlay back down when it is already loose.

Pics of our roof. Every bright white spot is a dent in the plywood. You can see the radius where it is above the plywood trapping water (AC Condensation). In the other pic you can see where the metal has lifted under the membrane and has been dented by hail.

Got it!
The way I look at it is it going to cause a problem? I understand the radius metal SHOULD be attached to the plywood but if it is raised up a bit is it going to cause the roof to fail?
I can't see what you are referring to but the pic posted with the metal raised up I would do nothing with it and just keep an eye on it. It it makes a hole then fit it.
I guess it all "DEPENDS" on the condition of the area.
I am a "PICKY MoFo" but some things are simply not worth worrying about.

Ron,
Not sure that the raised area would cause the roof to fail, but I feel the metal edge is eventually going to wear thru the membrane. Just covering a raised area with Ebond just doesn't seem the right way to do it. Also wondering when the rest of the staples are going to pull loose on other sections...
