Vanity Slide
I parked the RV for a couple months yesterday, when looking at the slide seals I noticed a top corner of the Vanity slide looked odd. From my little ladder I could only reach the slide top seal but could feel enough to know the seal didn't flex out. I worked it out some but ended up putting the slide in IN. I then put the slide OUT a couple inches to the work the top seal OUT.
I moved the slide OUT the remainder of its travel and this verified the top seal flipped as intended..
That question is this a regular occurrence ? I'm a little afraid to put the little plastic strips on top the slide in fear that could possibility keep the seal held open to allow moisture. Any experience on this?

Clay,
I have serveral sections of seals that do not come all the way out. And some that I just need to push them back so they are against the window frame and not on it. It is just a routine that I do every time I set up. I refuse to put those plastic clips on the side of my slides. That is a bandaid not a fix.

In or out, I dont see how the seal will work any differently either way.

Some times a bandaid is all that is needed. Postpone surgery when you can. Since you refuse the fix, do you have a better idea? Or is complaining the fix? That's an honest question. I want to know what's better.

Clarification--this is about the TOP seal across the slide, and NOT the side seals?
Re-read the OP and it is the top of the side seal being the problem?

Yes it is the top horizontal seal across the top.
At one time or the other the side seals had failed to flip but the top was never mentioned plus seldom do I get off the rear ladder to see some thing.
This is what is used to flip all my vertical slide seal but never heard of it being used on top of any slide. Especially the short movement as the vanity slide has could cause more problems, 8 inches.

On top of our long door side slide, Kansas RV center put 2 of the "Flippers" and then covered them with Eternabond tape. Our top seal now flips correctly every time.

Yes, I pull my 8 ft ladder out and correct the seals that need to be corrected by hand everything I set up camp. I am not complaining about it at all. I just agreed that I had the same issue that the poster posted. Plus I do not like the look of those black pieces on my slides. Plus they are in the way when cleaning, waxing the slides.

Don't have a vanity slide.
The other three haven't given me issue with the top seals. There are a couple side seals that don't come all the way out at times so I use the end of a witches broom to pop them in place from the ground.
Will NOT add the little flipper tabs!!!

The top seal probably flips more consistently because of the top slide surface being EPDM or TPO which draws better on the edge of the seal. The sides are gel coat and maybe waxed as well, and thus a bit more slippery.
