Campsite knuckleheads

This has happened 4 times so far since we started our big cross country road trip back on Jun 3rd or what I like to call "hurry up and wait". It goes something like this. You're ready to leave your campsite to start another day's travel but you can't leave. Why, you might ask? Because some knucklehead has decided to pull his PU or SUV out into the road to hook up to his TT or f'ver. So you're probably wondering what's wrong with that? Nothing, if his rig was actually ready to go. However in every case I observed camping gear was not yet secured inside, water, sewer and electrical lines were still attached and in two instances the guy was grab assing with his site neighbor.

While spending the last Two and half weeks on the road, several campgrounds and watched 4 different people put their sewer hose on the fresh water spicket and rinse it. I now have Clorox wipes for my future hookups! Can’t fix stupid!

Not only do sewer hoses get rinsed at the fresh water spigot, but some folks will rinse their dog pooper scooper or allow their dog to drink from the spigot. I always carry a small bottle of bleach (along with paper towels and gloves) to clean the spigot before attaching the water hose.

It seems that we all need to pack more disinfectant... and patience!
It also helps to try and not notice the shortcomings of others. Just be prepared to deal with what they leave at the site, and don't let it get to you.

But this is just my "Theory of Happiness"!

The first post reminds me of boat ramps on the weekend. 30 minutes putting on sun screen, loading coolers, fishing gear, etc.

For the hose bib nothing new there, if nothing else you need something to clean off the bird poop.

Boat ramps for sure...been boating all my life. Nothing like Memorial Day Weekend when Bubba pulls his metallic 30 year old bass boat from the barn and heads straight to the lake...having done nothing to it since last year...or the year before. Go early and beat them in...come back early and beat them out!!

Most likely the reason AC's and furnaces make so much noise at night when you are trying to sleep;...to drown out the crowd partying all night outside next to you.

Not that many years ago, it was rare to run into inconsiderate RV'ers. Everyone seemed to understand the 'white hose' and the 'non-white' or grey hose and what they meant. Seems like the number of 'knuckleheads' and just plain inconsiderate people has increased dramatically. Very rarely did anyone block anyone's access to or from their site. Now these knuckleheads will park anywhere in the roadways, making it impossible for anyone with a big rig to get in or out of their site, and often even just to drive on the narrow site access roadways. RV'ers were known for being aware of others needs, and were always helpful and courteous. Doesn't seem to be the rule of the majority, now, and its too bad. Fortunately there are still a lot of considerate RV'ers, but seems to be a growing number of those you just don't want to be around.

The old guys...like us...are still around! It's this new invasion of the "Entitled Millennial" whose moms still lick their butts clean and have never had to buy anything that have no respect for anyone or anything. It's the same people that feel throwing trash out the window of their car generates employment for someone. I could go on and on...just look around...they're everywhere and stand out like a turd on a pizza.

I learned this trick from a classy RV park in Canton, Texas. A small squirt bottle with a bleach mixture to spray the water connection is now standard equipment for me. Just be careful to avoid bleach spots on your clothes!

FYI... Bleach water loses its ability to sanitize within a few hours of being mixed. A better solution would be clorox wipes or a mixture of Quaternay disinfectant.

I'll start spraying the spigot with Lysol

Thanks. I'll start spraying the FW spigot with the Lysol I use on the sewer hose.
