Safety issue

We have a ‘17 Vegas 25-2. Yesterday while making a right hand turn in traffic I was startled by a crashing sound from the rear of the unit and a yelling dw who was sitting on the couch reading. I looked around to find the left side door of the hallway closet laying on the floor in three pieces along with the mirror. As it turns out the flimsy plastic tabs that are suppose to hold the table tops in place gave way and the small table top crashed into the door breaking it. I consider this to be a major safety issue as a result of a design flaw. I’m contacting Thor tomorrow but was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems with the table top storage ?

How is this a major safety issue? It doesn't affect the driveability of the MH does it?

No it doesn’t effect drive ability but I believe the flying wood and mirror created a safety hazard for someone sitting on the couch which would not have been an issue had the securing tabs held table top in place

You can't possibly be serious: can you?
A pain in the ass? Hell yes!
But a safety issue?

I hope that your shop junk pile isn't getting large enough to be a safety issue...

Yeah most people would think that something that causes you to crash into a tree or otherwise lose control would be a safety issue.

However they do have a legitimate point here: the table is supposed to stay secured in the closet and it crashing through the door could be enough to distract the driver (into a tree?) or cause injuries from the broken mirror (along with 7 years of bad luck..hey you did buy a Thor).

I don't want to seem to be piling on here, as we want the forums to be welcoming for everyone.

Yes, those little plastic clips are worthless, several of mine were broken or pulled out on delivery. If you do a search there is a thread: "Vegas Table storage" It has several good fixes for the problem, Including my own.

There have been numerous complaints in posts on the forum here complaining about those clips not securing the table.

Like "tigwelder", we don't use or carry the larger table top. Too heavy and bulky. Just 2 of us humans and 1 dog. We usually just put the smaller table top on the bed when it's not in use. We keep the ladder on the bed above the cockpit seats, so its between the mattress and the ceiling...well out of the way.

One of the many things I like about the 24.1 floorplan is that the three table legs, both tables, and the bunk ladder are all stored behind the couch in plywood holders specifically notched to fit the tables & legs.

I own a '17 29m. My breakfast table was stored in back closet but every time after traveling the table had come unsnapped from the wall. I fixed that by putting it in the storage space under the bed. Annoyance solved[emoji106]

Our table came out while driving and hit our bathroom door, putting a deep gash in it. We will submit a warranty claim on that one. But the table weighs enough to injure or kill a pet or worse a child. This is a safety issue. The small weak plastic tabs are the problem. I will be replacing those with something else, made of metal of course.

if Thor had even high school designers they could have shaved a quarter inch off the table and it would have fit perfectly between the twin beds in the 24:1 and had the one or two cushions on top for hidden storage......

Jerry I agree with your issue 100% the very first couple hours we quit storing ours in the closet also I just can't believe that an owner on this forum is asking for help and others chime in with certain funny or jackass comedy... it's just not right Very Disrespectful. Good Luck & Safe Travels.

"jackass comedy"? You must mean me!
If you can't find a chuckle or three in the day's absurdities: why do you waste time breathing?
