Campgrounds are full

In the essence of fairness we don't make reservations until we are sure we can make it. How do I know where or what situation I will be next October. I think reservations should be made for 3 months or less and also a lot of the federal state and County campgrounds 15 days or less for a stay. Not everyone in this country is retired or nomadic, van life ,living free lifestyle those who have to work and try to enjoy vacation time shouldn't have to stay in expensive or in some cases crummy Campground. Colorado for example I keep getting all this information about wonderful places to stay it when we check into the campgrounds out there they're all full all the time so where does that leave us.
