HVAC Definitions / info needed
First time poster here.
I will be picking up a new (to us) 2017 Thor Vegas 25.5 next week.
In the options list it says ::
15.0 BTU A/C IPO 13.5 BTU
So what do I have here for A/C? Is this a heat pump too? I can’t find a definition for IPO so have no idea what that is.
Thanks
Regards - Randy

Well - DUH!!!!!
Sometimes you just have to let your sub-conscious chew on a question, then wake up in the middle of the night with the solution......
How about this?
15.0 BTU A/C “In Place Of” 13.5 BTU?????
I still don’t know if it is a heat pump though...
But since it’s only 0245, I have a couple more hours to let the brain chew before the coffee pot kicks on...

"let the brain chew"...at 0245 that's positive thinking!!!
To the original post...that means they upgraded the A/C from a 13.5 BTU to a 15 BTU when the coach was ordered.

Not what you asked, but if you do a forum search, you’ll find various opinions on value of heat pumps. Unless you are paying for electricity yourself, where heat pumps can save a little, they don’t necessarily add a lot of value to some owners.

^^^AGREE^^^ "Heat Pump" is just a term to make you feel warm an fuzzy. Kinda like the term, "All Natural".

Good morning again!
Thanks for the notes on my thread here.
Yep, I got that the AC was upgraded. Heat Pump on my front 15k AC in my Cedar Creek Cottage works well above 46°F and works so-so down to 42°F, but below that it spends more time grinding through its coil heating cycles to deice than it does actually producing any appreciable heat. It’s at that point that I switch over to Propane. It is nice to have the option though as our desert temps at night are often in the 40s or below.

No doubt heat pumps are much more energy efficient in mild (cool) temperatures, but cost efficiency to RV owner can vary significantly.
If at campgrounds where electricity is included, then running a simpler electric heater or multiple small units is no more expensive. And if running generator solely to power the heat pump, then using propane is probably cheaper, and likely safer at night.
Full timers who pay for their own electricity, or those connecting at home to keep unit warm, may benefit the most from heat pumps. I would not use one enough to make it worth the cost or added complexity.
