Kitchen faucet hose

Tested the water systems today for the first time since picking up Nessie. Only one leak from the outside shower which the previous owner removed and stowed inside when they removed the couch, luckily it was just one of the taps not turned off fully.

When I looked in the cupboard below the kitchen sink I found a hose coming down from the faucet which is just fed into an empty plastic bottle.

I would guess that it’s some kind of aerator for the faucet but can’t find any info anywhere. The two supply hoses connect to the faucet and the outlet is connected to the separate swan neck fitting as you would expect.

I will get some pics tomorrow but just wondered if any of the resident fonts of all knowledge could confirm or dismiss my guess first.

TIA

Kev

Where does that hose hook into the faucet's plumbing?
Do you have a picture?

Kitchen faucet hose

I will take pics later today.

Soap dispenser is the bottle type and separate.

Could possibly be for a sprayer fitting that wasn’t installed.

Kitchen faucet hose

These are the best I can get at the moment. The bottle is probably only there as a possible drip catcher.

Four fittings on the faucet, hot and cold inlets, outlet to swan neck and the extra one I’m trying to identify.

I still think it’s probably a blocked off connection for a sprayer but am happy to be proven wrong. [emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

Could that be some kind of "home-brewed" air admittance valve?

That was my first thought (see first post) but it looks like an original fitting.

The main thing is that the water flows when it should and stops when it should.

I’ll probably leave it as it is but just curious as hell as to it’s function.

I’ve just drained down the system, maybe try it another day but might just leave it alone as long as everything works.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it……….

I am not clear on what the outlet is connected too. Are you saying that the "swan neck" is separate from the controls? Never seen that! So I would really guess that the mystery hose is for a separate spray nozzle. Is there a way to stop the flow out of the swan neck to divert it to this extra hose, or does the head on this hose "open and close"?

....really odd one! Thanks for the mystery!

It’s looks like a vent. It should have been mounted on the top of the sink but they put it below. The previous owners probably wanted a certain kitchen faucet and it came with a vent and they didn’t want to or didn’t know how to put it on top of the sink. I would take it out of the bottle and zip tie it so the end is higher than the trap.

What does Nessie say... Go for it, get a few buckets and a couple of mops and a wet suit. How bad could it be

On my Hurricane the kitchen faucet is a combo swan neck and sprayer. The head can be pulled out and used as a spryer. The last picture looks like the inside of the sprayer head, minus its housing. Could the previous owner completed some kind of mod that added a different swan neck without eliminating the sprayer and its hose?
