Axxera Avm80- Sirius tuner/antenna connection
I bought a new Freedom Elite on 04Feb2020
from Tulsa, Camperworld. I brought it back the next day because the Sirius function Displayed- check antenna connection. In addition the remote was missing.
I finally got it back on Saturday, 25 April. Supposedly the unit was replaced and a remote was provided. However the- Check Antenna Connection- fault still exists and I'm unable to use Sirius, though a trial subscription was opened.
The radio S/N: NSD0012739
The radio ID: BJH97D03
Perhaps, there's another dealer in Tulsa that I can take it to. All help appreciated.
Sincerely,
Major Hill

The AVM80 in my 30FE is listed as "Sirius/XM ready" which means that once you buy and connect a Sirius/XM receiver and antenna - - not included - - the radio will be compatible with that service. I didn't bother, but I did find that the receiver and antenna are available on Amazon for about $45.
And......WELCOME to the forum!

Don't know if you have much access to the back of the head unit or not. Satellite antennas are (maybe) a 2" square with about 20 feet of very thin wire. If the installer simply plugged in the antenna but then didn't bother to run the wire to a place where the signal could be picked up, that could be a problem. However, I'm inclined to believe they didn't even hook the antenna up. It truly is a simple plug-in and I've never heard of a Sirius/XM radio coming WITHOUT an antenna being provided.
Can you get a look at the back of your head unit in any way to see what's back there?

I agree that it's a connection problem. I haven't checked the cabling myself. I may try looking at the overhead location first. The dash panel looks to be a bear. If that doesn't pan out I'll check out the other dealer in town.

It's an Axxera radio, not a Sirius/XM. This is from the owner's manual for the AVM80 radio. See the red circled area. The tuner and subscriptions are sold separately.
The radio itself is only satellite ready. You have to buy the tuner, which comes with the antenna.

You are correct. I was under the impression that he already had a Sirius/XM radio hooked up, whether part of the HU or as an add on. If he doesn't have that, no sense in looking for an antenna!

No sense in having a trial subscription either, but he says he does. To get that you have to have the radio ID so maybe he does have the Sirius module?

Those are the junkiest radios available. Where Thor finds this stuff is beyond me. Cheapest bidder I guess. DOnt invest anymore into it. It will die soon anyway then you can buy a Sony or Pioneer unit.

Maj, I may be a little late responding here? I just came across this post, your radio is Satellite ready. You can purchase the receiver cheap online and it’s easily installed! There is no reason to remove the dash face as most post will tell you.
Start by removing the Incan engine cover, reach up behind the radio, looking at the radio feel for a small round hole to the right of the av ports. This is where you plug receiver in, the plug goes in with the wire pointing up. Locate a spot to attach antenna, run wire back to receiver plug in, and Tape receiver to metal support below radio.
Replace engine cover and call SiriusXM for service. This took me all of 30 minutes from start to finish. Good Luck
