Red face Challanger 37 GT

Hello Everybody,

We have a 2012 Thor Chateau 31 K and are looking at a 2016 Challenger 37GT. We have not had any problems with our current coach except for replacing the coach batteries.

My questions for the Challenger are:

Who manufacture does Thor use for the leveling systems and are they reliable?

I have heard complaints about the handling of the GT, We had handing problems with our class C until I got the tire pressures under control. So are there handling problems that I should be aware of?

Most important for those that have a Challenger, are you satisfied with it?

Looking forward to you responses, Thank You

Our KT is a great unit, I would recommend it!

We've had the 2015 Challenger 37ND for 5 days short of a year. It is in the shop now for its one and only warranty visit as well as step recall.

I have no handling problems at all, however, the ND is on the 252 inch wheelbase while the GT is on the 242 inch wheelbase. During my last trip to Charleston, SC (approx. 900 miles RT) one hand on the wheel cruising at around 63 MPH.

Leveling Jacks are Lippert Components. I have had no issues other than a periodic low voltage when I try turning the system on too soon after starting the engine. I need to remember to wait a minute or two before turning the jack power on.

Bottom line, we are very happy with the coach other than we need to get it on the road more. We are in the process of planning 4 two week trip for the this year as well as a few shorter 4 or 5 day trips. I am not yet retired so I can't take off for a month at a time.

Posts can only be edited until someone replies or for a specific time period whichever occurs first.

The leveling systems on the Challengers are manufactured by Lippert Components. If you want info the system is the Lippert Components Level Up (2013 - present). There is an older system that uses a different control panel etc... that was in use up until 2013.

We have a 37kt model also, like KCook we recommend them also. I've had slide problems that needed to be fixed, but we love our coach. We've made a few changes like sway bars, steering stabilizer, and tuning for improved drivability. Overall the Lippert leveling system has worked perfectly. I would buy another Challenger.. My .02

We have the KT model also. A few small problem that Thor sent the parts to me under warranty. I do most repairs myself. The unit is at the dealer now for a slide wall water leak. No problems with the leveling system. Had to replace the inverter and the door latch, neither the fault of Thor.

Nmrver, if I may ask, what was your slide problem?

Forgot to add:

I preformed the Cheap Handling Fix as described on the IRV2 form. The unit drives like a dream. Even better when we are pulling our toad!

Hi dave, so your service facility said they have the parts available for the step recall?

Just wondered, thanks,
tom

Tom,

No, I gave them the recall notice number and they added the recall to the list of things to be done. In fact, they acted a little surprised when I mentioned a step recall.

Today, I am flying to the Midwest for the week on business and plan to call them next Monday for a status report. I gave them until March 1 to complete the repairs and servicing of my coach. My warranty expires in Wednesday.

My next trip isn't planned until mid-April so I have a little bit of "fudge factor" built into the schedule.

I'll keep you informed.

Vinster,

Snapped my upper front retaining cable that attaches to slide and main frame of RV, which allowed the slide to sag about 2-3 inch down. Had to manually lift the slide to retract it. Once a replacement cable was installed it working great. It still hits the bottom going in and out, but not like it did.

37 gt

We love the layout of our 37GT. Have only taken 2 trips totaling a little over 4000mi, but haven't had any complaints about the handling. Our previous coach was a 32' Coachmen and the Challenger is much more comfortable to drive. The larger 22.5" tires are a factor in that. Overall, we have been very happy with it.
