Dog House Insulation

I just got done insulating the engine cover with Dynamat Extreme and Dynamat Hood Liner.

The hardest part was cleaning the engine cover to get all the old glue out. I finally used gasoline which made things easier. Then I used mineral sprits, washed it with Simple Green and a final wipe down with rubbing alcohol.

The Dynamat Extreme applies very easily. The Hood Liner is easy as well just make sure you don't let the adhesive touch anything because it is really sticky. I had enough Hood liner material left over to put an additional layer under the coup holders. New weather stripping came from O'Reilly.

I didn't take any sound measurements but the interior noise level is way down now (especially going uphill while down shifting). The cover doesn't get hot anymore either. $200.00 well spent.

Now. I bought five sheets of Dynamat Extreme but only needed 2 and 1/3 sheet. I have more then enough left to do another engine cover. If anybody is interested let me know and you can have it for FREE. I would prefer local pick up at Missouri ZIP 65584.

Or use the leftover under the rest of the cab area. It will lower noise even more.

Looks great. I did the same thing to my class C Thor. It made quite the difference in noise levels. Not sure way the company doesn’t do this. All about money.
Great picture.,

I thought about that but that would require to remove the front seats (not a big deal) and the vinyl flooring which I believe is glued down. For now I will put carpet floor mats in the front foot wells.

"Project" type improvements will have to wait because we go on a trip to Mount Rushmore in two weeks. I just got the ACE back from the Ford dealer because they had to replace the steering gear due to a slow leak on the output shaft. Found that odd because if I it would have been under warranty I would have replaced just the seal (easy job).......I am not complaining though.
