Bolding Kills Upper Case

FTFY - Fixed That For You

When I typed the "fix" the SP was upper case as was the FTFY, both in the bolded font. I posted it and noticed that both the SPs and the FTFY were ;ower case so I figured I just fumble-fingered the SHIFT button, so I edited my post to make them upper case again, but when I saved the edit they were all lower case again.

It's like some type of posting auto-correct. I've see this before but didn't have time to document it.

I created this thread to try to duplicate it and report it but It won't duplicate here, so there must be more to the combination other than just bolding the font.

Now I've duplicated it here. It has to do with quoting a post as well.

I noticed the C in Chief's name was also lower case.

So I quoted myself above, added FTFY and bolded it, and WALA!

The both the FTFY and the ACE in my name got transformed into lower case.

Nope, post #4 above only has the FTFY bolded outside the quotes, as does this post.

Edit: But this time it didn't lowercase the uppercase letters???

Did they fix it already? Nope, I went back and edited the FTFY in post #4 and it went back to lowercase. I also noticed all capital letters in the quoted text in post #4 were changed to lower case, not just bolded ones.

EDIT: Added CAPS CAPS CAPS to post #4 and it stayed uppercase.

The issue here is not the bolding but the extensive use of upper case letters. It's considered shouting when used in written text and so there is a software preset to change sequential upper case letters to lower case letters after several appear in a string.

How does that apply in any of the examples? Why would it change the case of a Username? Why would it change the case of capitals at the begining of a sentence? Why didn't it change the CAPS CAPS CAPS test?

There's more at work here in this bug.

It's the PC stuff. Like anything else, take it too far and it eventually bites you in the A$$.
