Can We Just Turn Off The Picture Auto-Rotate Function?
It's a detriment to this forum when members post pictures and they fall on their side. Admins?

It is not an auto rotate function it is the lack of an auto rotate that is the problem.
When a smartphone takes a photo it embeds in the picture some metadata about the orientation that the photo was taken (portrait, landscape, etc.). That way the phone doesn't have to go through the process of rotating the picture itself, it just stores the pic as it is pulled off the sensor and marks the orientation of the phone.
Most display applications are smart enough to read that metadata and do the rotation for you.
The problem here in the forums: The forums are not reading that orientation data and just displaying the image as is. (I've noticed that the forum does do some processing when a pic is uploaded so it could, conceivably, be added to that step a proper rotate based on metadata info.)

you basically need to 'edit' the picture, in some small way, in order for it to 'save' itself in the normal mode that uploads correctly. Happens to all of us.

Normally I take any "phone photos" and send them to my tablet or laptop. There I resize, annotate and save before I use them in a thread.
Once I decide to use a photo in a thread I upload it to the thread then do a "preview post". If the photo is "laying down on the job" I go back to my basic entry and delete the file. Next step is to go into my original photo file, correct the angle of the photo and save it.
Lastly I go back to the thread and upload the offending photo again, check "preview post" to see if the photo is "standing tall". If everything is okay to my liking then, and only then, do I hit "Submit Reply" and send it on its merry way.

If you have a PC and are sending the files from there you can use a program like Faststone Image Viewer to remove the metadata and manually rotate it to the proper orientation (Not affiliated with them, just a user).
How to prepare an image with Faststone: - Browse to the image file and click on it
- On the menu click on Tools and then "Remove JPEG Metadata" (Check the "remove...." checkbox and click on apply)
- Look at the thumbnail of the image after step 2--If it is sideways then click on Tools, then JPEG lossless rotate and then left or right depending on what angle you want the image to be. (If you can't tell from the thumbnail double click on the image to view it)
- Upload image to forums

I have a V10 Thor Axis Motorhome. I am looking for the fuse box for the power point to change the fuse. Where do I find it? The book says under the hood but I cant't find one.

You just need to add an auto-rotate function to your eyeballs!

I used the free version of Paint to Open the picture & just re-save it to get it to come out the proper way.
If you Preview your Post & Image before Submitting it, you can catch it.
But, I agree with TFryman...in this day and age, there should be an easier answer to this.

Ironically, it matches Thor quality control.... 5-month problem and not addressed. I've previewed it, but didnt see a way to correct them.

You're right, I don't think you can correct it once it's uploaded....I had to delete it, open it in Paint, re-save it, then re-attach it.
It is a Pain!

Easiest way I've found is to just lay my phone over (90 deg) to create a landscape photo... then the forum(s) will post them with the correct viewing orientation...

My iPad does not have 'paint'.
Pictures uploaded to the forum end upside down.
So I went and held the iPad upside down when taking the picture.
My screen rotation is on lock.
Needless to say, the results were the same, picture uploads upside down!
I just do not deal with it any longer.

Flustered and frustrated.
Rusty,
Yea, I spent 3.5 hours on it today with no positive results. You would think with all the technology out there that this would be an easy fix on their end. Keep it between the lines and we'll talk to you later and in the meantime I'll just be 90 degrees off. LOL

as noted earlier ... If you post pictures that look normal on your phone or tablet, but after upload here seem to post upside down or sideways, the issue is likely that the images were taken on a mobile device that auto rotates content to always appear right side up. The forum software can't discern what the intended orientation was so it defaults to the actual orientation of the image (regardless of how your device auto rotated it to appear correctly in your local view).
Some options:
1. Always take the picture in portrait orientation or:
2. After taking picture hold your device upright and then edit the picture, resaving it with a new name.

The forum software does not support attaching pics to PMs. It's not "missing" it just was never there You can embed images however if they are hosted and publicly available by using the the little tool that looks like a mountain.

or Convert Image Files To Image URL. Image files. I have done this in the past just a lot of extra steps.
