29M Owners
I have a question for owners of Hurricane/Windsport 29M owners. Under the bed is a compartment with the converter, inverter and associated electrical 'stuff'. The top of the compartment is warm to the touch, 114 degrees using a point and shot thermometer. Is there any reason why I could not install a vent in the side wall of this compartment, above the fuse panel?

Interesting I’ve never thought to measure the temperature back there on mine. I’ll try it this week with that being said I don’t see why it would be an issue and would certainly help. I actually cut a vent into the back bedroom closet to ventilate when the RV is stored. I got tired of fighting with the mattress to open the doors when the slide was in.

I live in the desert so heat is normal. To your question, I don’t believe mine gets this hot. The fan works to remove heat and appears adequate. I’ll be looking into it to see if it helps out the fan. I appreciate you sharing the idea!

You mean the fan on the converter?

Yes Sir, I was referring to the inverter fan.

Mine isn't this hot either. I would check that your fans are working.

Plan on opening the area up this week. Gonna check all the connections and fan on the converter and put in the vent. Hardly ever use the inverter.

My Magntude has all of the electronics (except the inverter) under the bed as well. It is a fairly large space so I have not worried to much about heat.... plus the fresh water tank is also there so it will absorb some of the heat. I installed a Progressive Dynamics Converter and it has a variable speed fan based on how hot the Converter gets. When we are in bed I can barely hear it running so I know it isn't much heat build-up at night causing it to be running faster.
If my Inverter was also under there, I would be thinking about cutting a hole with a louvered cover to allow some heat to escape or even add a 12V fan to pull the heat out. The inverter can crank out some heat under load.

Cut a hole in the compartment and put a louvered vent in there today. While I was in there, I vacuumed up a bunch of construction debris, extra screws and a bunch of cut offs from when the factory wired the coach. Thor factory workers are pigs that can't or wont clean up after themselves. Any way, the temperature is now around 99 degrees. So mission success.
