Bedroom cabinet shelving ACE 27.1

Spent Sunday replacing the cheap and impractical single shelf from the factory with lightweight-louvered matching wood shelves purchased at Lowes. These are much stronger and support much more weight than the single particle wood shelf which has already warped and fallen down several times with only some towels on it.

Wish these Manufactures would spend a few bucks more and use plywood in place of press board. I would be more than happy to pay extra so as not to have to retro fit all the shelves so they will not bow under a load.
Seems like we are still doing 1960 type manufacturing that died out years ago.

Unfortunately RV manufacturers aren't the only ones. Builders of houses seem to have reverted back to particle board shelving in closets as well.

The thing to keep in mind is the more weight on the shelf the more force that applied to the door when the load shifts during travel. "Be careful when opening overhead bins as loads may have shifted during flight" comes to mind when putting items on shelves in cabinets and closets.

Something like 80% of all RVs are made in the Northwestern Indiana area, predominantly near Elkhart, In.

The other big industry in this area... mobile homes.

So in a sense, a motorhome is nothing more than a self-propelled mobile home.

Same technology, same quality, or lack thereof.

Are they an off the shelf item? Or, custom ordered? Do they sell them that way, and you simply cut them to the required length?

They were purchased at Lowes off the shelf, no special order, $44 each. Here's the link. I purchased the shelves then the hardware separately (located next to the shelves) as I didn't want to use the large wooden supports that come in the combo kit. They sell the side brackets separately which is what I used to hang them. The top shelf was made from a leftover shelf after I cut them to fit inside the closet. I used a jig saw and pleased with how they turned out. There are a couple different colors, I used the Java which is the darkest.

acsnook how did you attach the shelf hardware to the outside wall? I'm hesitant to put anything into the wall.

I only drilled one hole in the back wall, it was for the short top shelf. I CAREFULLY drilled a hole for the screw anchor. The wall appears thin so use a short combination. Don't go more than 1" deep.. The rest of the shelves just used the side brackets, no back wall support was necessary.
