It is very sturdy. I put cabinet handles on with washers on back so they are easily removed when light or venting is needed. One 2x8 sheet covered every hole, so very cost effective.
Great Idea!

Double bubble

I had some double bubble thin insulation on hand from a previous project. You should be able to order it in small amounts. I cut a piece to cover the opening from the inside. I used some heavy duty velcro (just in a few spots) to secure the insulation.

This type of insulation is designed to work with an air space behind it so the skylight is a good application.

I can remove it and let light in until Needed. It makes a big difference when it is installed. The foil side is hidden and the white side is exposed so it looks ok when installed.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
