Front Scissor Jacks for Vegas?

I saw someone post they use then to level front of a Vegas.
My tech guy says he has 7000 pound scissor jacks.
Wondering if he soldered behind front wheels would we be able to lift front up to 5 inches if needed.

Alternative to driving to Michigan and $6000 labor gas install ?

2020 Vegas 25.6

Scissor jacks are mostly used to stabilize the RV, not level it.

Ours are rated enough to be able to lift the RV but you won't be able to do that--even using a cordless drill (or the power options).

You still have to level using blocks or wood and then drop the scissors.

Some pics of ours:

For these in the rear I didn't want them parallel so they could provide a bit more stability. They are more stable front to back than side to side so if they are at an angle to each other you'll get a bit more stability out of them.

They do stabilize the RV and eliminate a lot of the "bounce" from people walking around in the coach when you're camping though.

If you're asking me: We mounted them right behind the bumper but I wouldn't recommend it.

They are in front of the crush part of the frame and thus push up on the entire front fiberglass fascia of the Axis. We rarely use them for that reason. (Yeah hindsight is 20/20.)

When we camp at rustic, SPs, NPs, and USFS parks we generally back in and the site slopes back to a creek or lake. So we have to lift the back to get it level. Front mounted jacks do little good therefore. i guess rear mounted 7,000 lb rated (about double our RAWR) scissor jacks would work. Why can't you lift them, JamieGeek?

They can lift the coach quite a bit, I've never really tried to get the back wheels off the ground--no need to since I usually level first with blocks under the wheels and then drop the jacks.

In addition: Since its just me cranking, I cannot operate the jacks "in pairs". Its crank one, then crank the other. Wouldn't want to try to lift one side completely then go to the other...

$6000 for leveling jacks?

I purchased "Big Foot" Levelers (basic kit) a couple of years ago (and I love them).

I did the install myself and I purhased them on sale (Around $2000) but Big Foot in MI would install for like $500 more (I wish I lived closer to MI).

Surely the basic kit is around $3000? Check them out first. Great kits for the best price in the biz IMO.

Wow, thats a lot of travel expense.

Check out Big Foot. I bet you can get one installed between $3000 and $3500 (basic unit). The install was a PITA so I would recomend a Big Foot install since they are much cheaper than my local guy.

I love my BF levelers....Most site that I show up at are NOT level, plus it keeps the rig from shaking around when walking.

Also aids in tire changes (but always use a jack stand under axle to be safe).

Give scissors jacks a try, mine are mounted behind the front wheels and give me 4/5 inches of lift. They're on 2 years now and have never given a problem, I also have them for the rear, but haven't felt the need to fit yet. I had bigger RV's with sef leveling etc and I couldn't be without some type of jacks, but I couldn't justify £4000+ to have them fitted, owning an RV is expensive in Europe......

Nice. With the big single slide many times we lift the left side one block ..put left rear stabilizer done and extend slide. If the slide left is low at campsite we use 1 block for front and rear left before extending slide. Both level coach almost 100%.

Great these are in the rear? If I have the 2 stabilizers in the rear do I need these or is the mechanics of lifting different?

Not sure?

Are they 7000 pounds and can you lift rear 4 or 5 inches with these? Had travel trailer and a lot of weight was hard to turn jack lift? Can you?

With a motorhome both back wheels should never be lifted off the ground to level, that's where the brakes are. Me, I won't lift any wheel off the ground for leveling, too much twist to the frame, even a heavy FL chassis on a DP. I have lifted a single tire off for maintenance purposes but not for leveling and living in it. To each their own though.

Hi, no, these are on the chassis just behind the front wheels, in front of the battery box.

Hi yes, 7000lb, and, yes, I can get 4/5 inches of lift. I had to make the crank handle longer. I use a cordless drill to lower then the crank handle, it does take a bit of effort but no too bad.
