Hughes Watchdog EMS

Just installed the Hughes Autoformers Watchdog EMS with Auto Shut off and Blue Tooth notifications. I just found the shore power wire underneath the dinette seat, cut it (after making sure I was not connected to shore power or have the generator running!), trimmed back each side, slid them in, tightened them down and screwed the provided bolts into the wall.

It's looking good, and I bet the peace of mind it gives you; feels even better!

It certainly does! My son-in-law had his toy hauler partially fried at a campground. I think these things should be standard equipment. Literally took me 30 minutes to install.

Since I'm not as handy as you: I got the plug-in version from Progressive...
(Sorry to hear about your Son-in-Law's problem!)

I just wanted one less thing to worry about (theft) while I'm on the road.

I am like Bob and have the plug in model from Progressive. I cable lock it to the pedestal and to my 30 amp plug end. Cheap insurance.

I have the 50 amp Hughes Watchdog EPO. And cable lock it to the pedestal. I previously had a Progressive but you have to replace it every time a surge hits it.
With the Hughes you just replace the internal surge module for about $35.00.

Same here. I had the progressive 30 amp and liked it, but when we upgraded to 50amp I picked up the watchdog. I really liked the replaceable surge module.

Sorry for asking a stupid ?,,, so does that unit take the place of the surge protector that you would use outside the coach at a camp ground ?

Hughes makes two versions of the Watchdog EPO. A fixed mount. And a standard pedestal mount exterior unit. I have the exterior pedestal mount unit. Check out Amazon -

Yes. One less thing to have to hook up and worry about.

In my world, one less thing to leave behind.

For all who don’t want to worry about something else to pickup. I suggest you get the fixed mount version then all you need to do is plug your cord in. But that’s the same thing I do because I keep my surge protector connected to the cord all the time. So it goes into the compartment with the power coats. Each to their own.
