Medical Insurance for Full-Timers?

I qualify for Medicare. The question is, "What are good plans for full-time RVers that are traveling all around the USA & Canada"?

gb,

Good question. Just turned 63 last week, with just 2 years to go it is time to start looking for answers to Medicare type questions.

My current plan is I'll have Tricare Retiree as my secondary to Medicare following that with a supplemental to Tricare thru NGAUS/EANGUS Ins (belt and suspenders kind of guy).

To the more senior members of the Forum...any recommendations??

Doc

Doc,
I found this site and sent them an inquiry.

I also sent AARP an inquiry. They have a Medicare Plan F for $160/month.

But I am sure that there are RVers out there who can help us.

The answer would be "it depends!" Check with your state's SHIP (Senior Health Insurance Assistance Program). They can give generic information and explanation of your options. If you have VA or TriCare, that will impact your choice.

Medicare Supplement policies have been standardized since the late 80's. I have worked with them about that long. Plan F has historically been the most popular. Most folks who choose a supplement also choose a prescription drug policy.

Medicare Advantage policies make sense for some folks, but network limitation issues must be considered, especially for travelers. (Those plans must cover you outside your network for emergencies.)

I specialize in retirement planning and insurance to coordinate with Medicare, mainly for folks based in Florida. Send me a PM if you want more detail.

Aarp

I'd like to hear from folks who have the AARP Supplemental Plan F and the cheaper Plan D. How is coverage across the USA and Canada?

Mr Sunshine, I have no VA or other coverage.
