Bug Banner
I'm planning a trip back east in May, and last year, on the same trip, bugs totally coated the front cap. Yes, I keep a good coat of quality wax on it, but it was still a major cleanup job, and two coats of cleaner/wax. I've been looking at, and considering purchasing, the Bug Banner to cover the front cap ($299 for the complete 8 1/2 ft kit). According the the info, after a trip, it can be taken down and scrubbed or put in the washing machine, if it fits. I've never actually seen one in person, so before I take the plunge, does anyone have experience with the product?

That is a great idea!
In the past, I've put on a coat of paste wax, removed it like normal, then applied another on top of it and left it. On a light or white cap, it wasn't noticeable, on a dark cap it would be.

It looks like a car bra. If they are not perfectly fitting, they can rub the paint off over time. When I have a ton or Large bug splats. I use a used drier sheet and water to clean the nose. I hear that an air foil/deflector mounted to the TV roof can really help with bugs and they even claim to offer better fuel mileage.
Google truck foil.

Thank you. Ryno, I have an Icon Air Foil and it doesn't work well with bugs. There is usually a super clean place on the front cap 'directly' behind the foil, but the rest of the cap gets covered with bugs. I've relocated it, front to back on the top of the truck, and altered the angle of the foil; no difference. As far as fuel economy, if it helps, it's not much. My truck averages between 10 & 11 mpg, and I'm pretty well satisfied with that. I even went to the trouble of color painting and installing Air Tabs on the back, and they are almost worthless, as well.

That was my first thought, car bra. But, after talking with a company rep, it will not damage paint. It actually fits snug, and they have video on the web site while towing at 65-75, and no wind rippling.

Look at it this way: If your killing bugs with your giant bug-swatter... they're not biting anybody, or landing in the food at a picnic!

My wife finished the install today; little or no trouble. I'm sure this will solve the bug splatter problem.

I've used Rejex on our motorhome for the past two seasons (applied in the spring).
The only statement about bug protection I can say is for the grill area below our windshield: They do come off pretty easily but some stains have been left. It does work pretty well as a wax in keeping the rig shiny and is opaque to UV (while its on).
Like a wax, however, it does need to be re-applied periodically (I would guess 6 months or so--we only do yearly because for 1/2 the year our unit is covered).

When I had Class C's. I covered the cap and hood with that thin plastic disposable carpet runner. Then just ripped it off like they do on the nascar windshields. Did that 4 years.

that seems like a great idea....
but i'd imagine it might be problematic if a person got sidetracked and didn't remove it right away.... like masking tape left on too long.
Still, I might think about trying this trick! My only issue is that I usually don't have so much extra time to install before a trip and remove after....seems like I'm scrambling always on both ends of a trip out

Just put it on... nobody is going to see a few wrinkles @ 70mph except a few thousand bugs.... have a great trip. You are also correct if you forget to take it off for 3 years it could be a bear getting off.. I replace mine before every trip.

Clev, thanks for your info about an air foil. I was wondering if they would work, but it sounds like a waste of money.

Good to know. I read companies claims on less bugs and better fuel mileage. But never received real world feedback from someone that has been using one.

Here's a couple of pictures after a Love Bug Trip. Enlarge them and the evidence is obvious.
