Why two satellite hookups

I don't have a satellite installed on my unit. However I see in the cabinet above the TV there are two RF cables with labels: satellte 1 roof & satalite 2 roof.
Why would I need two? Same thing on the panel outside. Plus where are these "roof" cables actually located if I want to add a satellite dish?

From the DRV Suites website - Mobile Suites standard equipment:

Quote:
HD Roof Satellite Prep for Dual DVR Receivers
Thus, 2 coaxes - also required if you want to use DirecTV HD service with a DVR receiver.

The cables are on the roof and capped off under a cover where the satellite antenna would mount.

The two cables are for the older dual tuner technology. With Directv at least, the SWiM technology only requires one cable for multiple tuners.

Hmmmm....guess I must have an older technology DirecTV setup in the sticks and bricks since I have 2 coax cables coming into the HR24-500 HD DVR downstairs from the Slimline dish.

Thanks Rusty. I'll have to look again but I don't recall seeing any covered boxes on the roof other than the WIFI Ranger.

Look for what appears to be a PVC vent with a cap sealing it (with it sealed, it's obviously not a vent!) Pop the cap and see if the wiring is inside.

DRV offers the Winegard SK-SWM3 dish as an option. This is a new Winegard SWiM dish and only one coax is required.
The HR24 is new enough to operate on a SWiM system without any modification, for future reference. Just a FYI.

Nice to know as I may add a roof dish and HD receiver(s) in the future. Right now I'm limping along with a VuQube 1000 portable and an SD receiver (H-20, IIRC) from the 2004 MS. Thanks!
