We are Kelly and Jerry Powell. We live outside of Zebulon, NC which is about 15 minutes east of Raleigh. We have two dogs that let us live with them. Halo is a "Lethal White" Aussie Shepard. She is solid white with blue eyes. She is totally deaf and has maybe 15% vision in one eye and is 47# of pure love. Nash is a 27# Rat Terrier and goes ape for any ball.
We looked at RVs for about 3-4 years and bounced between 5th wheel toy haulers and class Cs. SWMBO decided that I needed another pickup and I picked a 8.1 GMC 3500 so I could pull anything we wanted.
Last February we went to the "spring" RV show in Raleigh and the third coach we went into together was the one that we have. Since it is just the four of us, we considered bunks a waste of space, and here was this one with the overhead bunks that were actually not there and had been replaced by cabinets and the TV.
The rest of the show was comparing everything else back to this coach. We diverted back to it twice during the day and actually sat down and spent 45 minutes talking to Kevin Mullis about the coach and the company. Later in the afternoon, we found a 5er that we really liked but the garage was a tad small. The salesman said that they had the same trailer but with a bigger garage. That Saturday was about 45 degrees, cloudy, and windy. In a word, raw. I asked the salesman if he would call and ask the salesman at the dealership if he would stay maybe 10-15 minutes late to show us that single trailer. I told him that we would be there by 4:45 and if we couldn't make it that we would call them and let them know. The salesman wouldn't even call and ask. In our earlier conversation, we basically told him that if the 5er was right, we would be back on Sunday to talk numbers with the plan of taking delivery the next Saturday. After that, we went back to the D&H display and began talking numbers and had everything worked out and paperwork signed.
So here we are, 7 months later, practicing for fulltiming. I am spending as much time learning all I can about this coach and it's systems so that we can make intelligent decisions about the next step. For now we are practicing in the driveway. Honestly we haven't slept in the house for almost two months we love it so much.
I lot long winded, but this how we got here and we will be sticking around for quite a while.
