New owners
Hello,
Today we purchased our first RV. Its a 2020 24 HE Freedom Elite. Super excited. I am probably going to put some some solar panels on the roof. I was thinking about 4 x 100 watt panels as well as upgrading the batteries etc. I was wondering if anyone else has fitted 4 solar panels to this model and do they fit on the roof?
Is it a necessity to add solar panels?
We need to have an internet connection at all times, or as much as possible as we will be working in it. Is Hugh's satellite the best way to be connected?
We are rv beginners!
Thanks
Jerry

Welcome to your next great adventure!
There are probably hundreds of threads in here about adding solar panels to your rig. Give the Search button a workout, and see if they can answer your questions.
Good luck, and congratulations!

You don't "need" solar panels but nothing wrong with installing them. Best guess on that size mh is that you don't have the space for 4 x 100s. Oh, and as to Hughes Net, a big NO from me. I had it at home for six months. Their data caps will kill you especially if you need service for work. I paid out my contract and told them to come get their equipment.

Thanks for the reply nosticks!
We have not picked up the RV yet. I will have to do some measuring to see how many panels will fit. I will focus on reviewing house battery amp hours first.
More importantly, thanks for the info about Hughs internet. I think the only other option is to use hotspots on the phone or camp wifi.
Have a good one
Jerry

If you want good internet connection, I would suggest TOGO Roadlink C2. $360 per year, unlimited access. It is AT&T so check to see how their service is in your area. It works great through most of the country. We watch TV by streaming with the TOGO. We have Spectrum cable at home so we use Slingbox to watch all of our channels and DVR recorded shows. It will probably be great for your work related connection requirements.

Hi all, a quick update on what we decided to do..
Found out the 24e only comes with one wet cell house battery. Its wired for solar, but with only a 10 amp regulator. Decided to get 3 165 watt solar panels on the roof. A new 30 amp solar regulator. Also found it it does not come with an inverter, so we are having one installed too, so we can invert the D.C. Power. Each receptacle and the tv can run off the inverter and it has an auto switch for if shore power is connected, it will be possible to run the fridge on inverted power too. Getting rid of the wet cell house battery. Putting 2 AGM batteries instead. I cannot remember the amp hours.
For the Internet we are going to expirement with an on the roof device sold at winegard with a Verizon wireless card.
We are picking it up next week and really looking forward to it. Its been a very positive experience working with the staff at Camping World,

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new RV! Unlike me, you seem to have some knowledge concerning the electrical system and getting internet. You will be a great asset to the forum.
