50 to 30 amp adapter question
I have booked a long stay in Florida for next season and am going to need a 50 to 30amp adapter as the site only has 50amp. Can anyone recommend a good adapter?

I bought mine from Amazon...
But Camping World has piles of them in their stores also. https://www.thorforums.com/forums/at...1&d=1614961360

Amazon is your friend. FYI. In the RV world, they are called a dogbone.

As noted above, the one shown is a dog bone type. I bought a simple adapter with no connecting bone that works fine for half of the cost of the dog bone type.

Yep and that hockey puck type will last 1/2 as long. They have a history of getting hot and burning. No way for them to dissipate heat. Come to think about it I have not seen a 50/30 hockey puck. Just 30/15

Cavie,
I would never second-guess you; and I've heard this as well...
But I've got a 30 to 20 hockey puck style, and it has never shown and tndancy to heat up.
Could it be due to the lesser amperage being run through it?
P.S. Most of the time; I use my dog-bone style adapter anyway.

Spend the few extra $$ & get the dog bone adapter NOT the hockey puck doodad, they're notorious for overheating! Those that use the hockey puck be very careful when unplugging it you may get a handful of molten plastic, BTDT, fortunately had gloves on.
Also be sure to use your EMS, it MUST be an EMS not just a surge protector, hardwired or portable, as well! If you don't have one you need to get one ASAP & use EVERY time EVERY where you plug in the rv. If your rv is 30 amp get the 30 EMS & plug it into the dog bone then attach your cord to the trailer.

I had not seen one either so I ran with it and searched. 50 Amp Male (14-50P) to 30 Amp Female (TT-30R)

The 30 amp receptacle in our house is recessed and I haven't found an adaptor that will plug into it and allow me to plug the motorhome into it. So I did it this way - not clean but it works. I plug in a round 30-50 amp adaptor then a 50 to 30 amp adaptor into that. This extends it out far enough for me to plug the 30 amp motorhome into the adaptor. Like I said, it isn't pretty but it has worked the past couple of years. I forgot to mention I got all of this at Walmart.
