Addition of a Bunk over driving area

I am looking at a 2013 THOR 29X Hurricane. I loved the layout and the condition of one I saw yesterday. Unfortunately, however, this particular does NOT have the overhead bunk over the driving cabin which I really need for the additional sleeping space. Apparently it was an option?

Has anyone retrofitted the bunk to a coach that did NOT have it originally?

Welcome to the forum and great question. As far as I recall, I have not seen this discussed but this forum and many of its members have been around longer than I have so hopefully someone will chime in.

If you do take this project on please document it and bring us along with you.

Ron thinks you would be ill-advised to try to retrofit a bunk in that Hurricane...however, there are several other models which do offer the overhead, up front bunk...and there are some models which offer bunks in back.
I Googled motorhomes with Bunk Beds...Thor Chateau and Coachmen Leprechaun came up..as well as several others.

When you figure out the cost of retrofitting the bunk: it might be best to just keep shopping...

Coachman has a manual overhead bunk in a couple of their lower end models. Adding a manual one might be a viable way to pursue the additional bunk
