New General RV in Ocala,Fl

We have a new General RV on I-75 in Ocala, Fl opening up next month. They are loading up the parking lots with all kinds of RV's. Can't wait as this is about a mile from my house. Looks like they also have camping sites for overnight buyers.

I'll meet you at the entrance when the gates open. The place is HUGE! Size from the highway suggests it might rival Lazy Days in Tampa.

Did you happen to notice the string of service bays along the interstate? I tried counting but had to turn my eyes back to the road (LOL).

Yes it's huge, its on 66 acres. Will be there on opening day to check things out and for the giveaways.
Alliance Coach in Wildwood is having a open house starting tomorrow, sat and sun. Going for lunch and lots of giveaways.

Their web page says they'll have 600 RVs, 100,000 square foot facility and 40 service bays. That is HUGE all right! Even bigger than the General RV near Tampa.

It says coming winter 2018. That will be one big grand opening!

Reminds me of a certain dealership I walked in when looking for mine. First thing out his mouth was..."Hi...what can we do you for today?". I stepped up 6 inches from his face, held his cheap necktie in my fist and replied, "good luck selling cars on your next job...tomorrow, you stupid f*** h***!!", and walked right out. The receptionist was pointing at him laughing her butt off. I called back later to inquire about a unit I wanted to look at...she said he was fired...the Sales Manager over heard our conversation.

Well General RV locations have been a mixed bag (at least as reported on the forums here). Some have been good (like the one we purchased our Axis from, but I had heard the service manager for that one moved south) and some have been bad.

At the last RV show here (February) they introduced that new service policy about "Keep you camping" (its kind of a guarantee to fix major problems so you don't have to cancel plans).

The HQ for them here in MI is huge; been by it a few times.

I've only dealt with White Lake and they have been great.

That's a hot market and plenty of good trained help in the area should be available. If they are smart...and I don't doubt they are...they could re-write the book on RV sales with this dealership and rock the Sales World in that area with the few good sales people out there. I would find the best of the best and salary them with bonus vs. the traditional 100% commission program most of them operate under.

Yes, General RV is a very mixed bag. Just bought a new Tiffin motorhome ( yes, my Vegas is for sale ) , as we are going back to “full timing” in the winter. The General in Birch Run totally drove me away with their 30 year old “ System” sales method - you know, like all car dealers used to use, but most have reformed - like getting either a credit card or license to keep you captive , and running numerous ridiculous deals past their “ sales manager” until you give up ! Wixom General RV was much better - but I knew someone there. I ended up buying at North Trails in Ft Myers - by the internet , but they were still playing the “ take the deal to my manager “ game. But they has the unit I wanted, and I finally got a pretty good price.

It just amazes me that these RV dealers are still using those obnoxious sales techniques , on a high level product, with pretty savvy buyers.....
