Angry Help, my 2014 Thor 24.1 is full of holes.

During the Texas freeze, I noticed nothing I did prevented freezing cold air blasting into the driver/passenger seat area. I can't find where it's coming from exactly, but suspect it's the same place the mice came in last winter: 3 or so a night!
I've looked into the engine compartment, but again, nothing is obvious.

I met another woman on the beach who has a brand new 24.1, and she had the very same problem with wind.

It is like the vents are permanently open, and even in the OFF position, the wind just keeps coming.

Any ideas?

Have you looked at the threads from a few years ago on insulating the A pillars?

You'll need a dark night... and a helper.

Shut off all of the lights in the coach well after it's completely dark outside, and have your helper hold a lantern in the area that you want to inspect.
You go outside, and start looking for light coming through the openings.
(You'll especially need to check under the rig...)
Good luck!

The Axis has two big air intakes at the top of the engine compartment just above the radiator facing forward. I suspect they feed the dash HVAC system. Maybe winter wind flows directly from there through the fan and out the interior vents. Cars have electric dampers that stop this, but maybe Thor didn't do that.

You could stuff a rag in those air intakes to block the flow (and mice).

A pillars? I guess I don't know what this means.

I'll do it. Thanks.

They are; unless you put the dash HVAC system in recirc mode fresh air will be pushed through the system into the cab.

Many car manufacturers put in their dinghy towing instructions to place the car's HVAC system in recirc when towing behind a MH to keep the dirt/dust out of the car.

Metal framing around front cap and windshield

Here’s one thread from the search

I don't seem to have a recirc setting on my dashboard. Tried to include a photo but no go. I have: MAX A/C A/C VENT OFF (WHICH I TRIED WITH NO LUCK, STILL HAVE WIND) AND THEN THE VARIOUS UPPER/LOWER ETC DIRECTIONALS.

Max A/C puts it in recirc.

Axis 24.1

Hi.

I noticed on our 24.1 cold air comes in the flaps that are on the slide. So if you look at the bottom of the slide from the outside at the base, you will see a rubber strip (against the motorhome itself). This is for sealing it I guess. But cold air comes in on the extreme left and right of the strip at the bottom. I tried a few different things to fix it but it has not worked. From the inside of the coach you can feel the cold air beside the couch.

I also placed screens on all draft inlets under the hood. My problem wasn't mice, but mosquitoes.

Good luck.

Answer #2 may be your problem. I had one of the first 2014 Vegas and found the A pillar problem and discussed it in 2014. The 2014’s were the first year of the Axis and Vegas and they could not build them fast enough. So they cut corners and the fit and finish and quality control were awful. One of the major noise and “draft” issues was the lack of insulation in the engine compartment including the dog house. In my 2014 there were holes everywhere- none were filled with foam. There was no insulation in the engine compartment or the dog house and the pillars that hold the windshield were left completely open in the bottom so that wind came into the engine compartment and was funneled up the pillars. When I put insulation in the engine compartment and dog house and covered the bottom of the pillars, my air conditioning worked much better (still not good in Florida) and the noise level decreased significantly. You will still have to find all the holes that were cut for water and electrical lines and plug them as well as make sure the flaps are correctly installed in the slide.
