Help slide lube rubber and metal slides 2020 thor vegas
does anyone lube the rubber and metal tracks on their slides.
A technical told me no because it will trap more dirt in the motor? I used to lube my travel trailer?

Wipe all exterior rubber seals with 303 once or twice a year. Include the tires and roof if are going to keep the coach for 5 years are more. The motors are sealed so any lube won't do any good. LCI at onetime recommended lubricating the guide blocks and slide track's roller. LCI found the cheap grease the owners were using attracts dirt and wears the guide blocks and drive cogs so no lubricant is better that the wrong lubricant. What WAS recommended is a CRC dry spray with PTFE. Youtube has several on how to use it, but note you are spraying parts you cannot normally see.

I had my slide repaired at the Lippert factory service center in Elkhart. The service tech there recommends treating the rubber seals periodically but no lube at all on the tracks or motor. OK to lube the rollers under the slide floor with silicon

Very true. Never lubricate the slide's tracks or the slide's motors. This has always been LCI's recomendations. Up until 2018 LCI recommended CRC dry lube with PTFE for only the guide blocks and the guide wheel for the tracks. Since the wrong lube (WD-40) is worse than no lube, LCI now recommends no lube of any sort on the slide system. Thor does suggest the rubber seal parts be coated with a UV protectent twice a year. LCI only supplies the motors, track, drive system, wiring and controller with their in-wall slide system. The rest of the slide is up to the manufacturer discretion.

Help slide lube rubber and metal slides 2020 thor vegas
There are several videos from LCI showing HOW TO PROPERLY lubricate the slide mechanism.
Here are videos from LCI done in 2014 and 2018 and also a link at the bottom of this post is from the LCI website on slide maintenance, including referencing these videos on how to lubricate the slide.
LCI now recommends Kwik Lube, which believe it or not is considered a spray "grease" instead of CRC Power Lube with PTFE. The LCI website information was updated May 2020 so I would say that is the most current information.
Regardless they have been recommending lubrication of the coupler at the motor for years as well as the seals, etc. They also recommend keeping the slide in when not in use. For the life of me I can’t understand when I see people store their RV’s with the slide out.
The Kwik Lube is also recommended for those of us with Powered Steps so you can use it for your slides and your steps.

I lube the in side mechanics, as per videos, but not the track. I spray the rubbers and the slide sides with silicone lube a few times a year and they seem to be all OK.

Thanks for providing the videos. Very helpful. I would think the bunk slide would also be lubricated the same way? Any idea how often this needs to be done?

Lubing
I have used a rubber seal lube from Camping World for years successfully. I lube the slide out sides with Lucas SlickMist, the same product that dirt track racers put on their cars so that the mud slides off. Try it, feel the slides before and after applying and you will see the difference. An inexpensive method that is available from Walmart. During the summer when traveling I apply it every 6-8 weeks/

I spray Lemon Pledge on the sides panels of the slide. Helps the rubber seals glide when the slide is coming in. Does not deteriorate the rubber seals. I have used this method for 2 1/2 years and works great. Spray some on about every 3 -4 months.
