Miramar 34.1 owners

Looking for owners of Thor Miramar 34.1 motorhomes and what kind of problems they have encountered. I have a 2015 and have problems holding it on the road, also have problems with leveling jacks that don't work if not on fairly level ground.

34.1 Issues

I have a 2015 Miramar 34.1 and have had numerous issues resolved under warrant but my unit handles fine on the highway. Recently traveled to Wisconsin from Pennsylvania and it handled fine on the highway at 70/75 mph. As far as auto leveling my unit will not auto level unless the site is pretty level which most sites I used were and it auto leveled successfully. Their were a few that I had to manual level.

If you look at the LCI level-up manual it specifically says that Auto level will not function if the coach is 3.5 degrees off level from front to back or side to side.

Here is the wording from the manual

Selecting a Site

When the coach is parked on an excessive slope the leveling requirements may exceed the jack lift stroke capability. If the coach is parked on an excessive slope, the coach should be moved to a more level surface before the leveling system is deployed.

EXCESS ANGLE will appear on the LCD screen if the coach is 3.5 degrees out of level front to rear or side to side. See Page 9.

Auto Level

Yep, that pretty much describes it, thanks much Dave.

I'm curious -- does leveling work if owner places blocks under jacks to bring the "effective" lift requirement under 3.5 degrees? Or does the controller measure initial conditions to be more than 3.5 degrees and then won't even extend jacks at all?

If so, can you use blocks and then manually level?

Leveling

I bet you could use blocks never really tired that I just manually leveled coach when I was on a site that would not auto level. That only happened to me a couple of times as most sites I used were pretty level and the coach auto leveled without any problems.

The system reads the initial conditions and blocks under the jacks may not matter. If however, you were to drive the coach onto blocks on the low points the auto leveling function should work as long as the jacks retraction is within their stroke distance.

I do not see a level site limitation for manually leveling the coach.

You could use blocks under the front/rear tires to adjust the base level that the system reads in order to 'trick' the system into thinking it's more level than it is. We had a site with roughly a 2.6-3.0 degree slope and couldn't level at all back in January. I wouldn't recommend bringing your tires off the ground in any case because it's a lot of weight (plus an angle) on round steel tubing.

I think the leveling issue has been addressed...
For the handling - you will find many threads here and elsewhere.

First step is alignment - if you haven't had one done. Should be done fully loaded as you would travel.
There are steering stabilizers and such that can improve the ride - but starting with a rig properly aligned helps a lot.
