Onan Generator Oil

Dumb question. Changing oil in my Onan 4000 genny and it calls for 1.6 quarts of oil. Is that not 1 quart plus 6 ounces ??? Thanks in advance. Stay safe[emoji106]

No, it is one qt + six tenths of a qt. 0.6qt is about 20 ounces. I just put in a 1 qt bottle and half of a second and call it good.

What I usually do is capture the old oil in a throw away measuring cup from the paint department at Home Depot to see how much came out. I then use another cup and measure out the exact amount of fresh oil and pour it into the generator. It takes the guess work of how much is 1.6 quarts.
