solar panels help.

We are thinking of using solar panels for some of our power usage for trailer which will be sitting close to the beach. We know nothing about them We have a 30 ft. trailer. Any suggestions.....

It depends on what you want to do with your trailer.
For example: you want to run everything (need a complete list and estimate of personal usage and power consumption..) off of solar and batteries for 5 days without using the generator...
Gone with the Wynn's have a good website for general discussion about all things battery, solar and boondocking.

When you figure out what you want to run, for how long, using what combination of resources and how much you want to spend. Pick monocrystaline panels over polycrystalline and MPPT charge controllers over PWM. The difference on each is 90-95% system efficiency over 75-80% and the mono/MPPT combo will make more power on clowdy days.
As for batteries, it's a whole other complex subject, but assume that four 6-volt golf cart batteries (wired in series pairs for 12-volt) as a best "bang for buck" minimum (400 ah total). Other things that will drive your decision are maintenance free verse's not, depth of discharge (usable capacity) and number of cycles...
With 400 ah of batteries, I would recommend 600+ watts of solar to help minimize generator usage (everyother day, depending on electronics demand )
