What the heck is the T-Valve for that's located under my passenger side by the motor home entry door?

It would help if you provided the type of rig you are asking about. Is this a motorhome, 5th wheel or travel trailer. Make and model also helps with folks having the same style unit response with specifics.

T handle valves are generally dump tank valves but we can't be certain without the unit specifics.

Red face

Your toilet is on the "passenger side" aft of the entry door, right ? That handle is a connected to a second valve in the pipe between the toilet and the sewer connection on the opposite side of the rig. Very common with rigs with the toilet on that side.

Thanks Popfla! I thought it was. So I guess it's open it when I open the sewage drain T-valve on the other side to dump...

Actually, it should be open all the time unless work has to be done on that pipe that goes to the black tank. If it's closed and you use the toilet, the......stuff......has nowhere to go.

I never left that valve open on my Outlaw 29H all the time. The drain pipe ran across the bottom of the coach frame and under the drive shaft of the Class C chassis and was fairly low to the ground. If you ever hit something in the road or on a road with little clearance, it could rip off that pipe and allow the black tank to drain all over the highway.

T handle

Opens to the sewer drain pipe, not to the black water holding tank.

T-Valve #2

Valve # 1 closes the blank tank off from the sewer drain pipe that runs to the other side of the coach under the drive shaft and over to the gray tank and sewer hose hookup. There is a second valve on the driver’s side of the coach to allow the black tank to be emptied out the hose..... if valve #1 is open.

If you leave it open and ever ripped off the sewer drain pipe given it is low to the ground, the blank tank would drain out onto the road.

I know.... I couldn't believe they could not find a better way plumb it. That's why I changed the design on my coach.

I removed the drain pipe that ran across the coach and under the drive shaft and I installed a 90deg elbow off the gate valve at the exit of the black tank. I added a second gate valve on the passenger side of the coach and secured it to the frame. I then bought a Y-adapter for the sewer hose and would run a hose under or behind the coach for the black tank and connect it to the hose for the gray tank with the Y-adapter.

It was a little of a hassle dumping sometimes but in the end it was better than the way Thor designed it.

it's the drain for the black tank. The smaller of the 2 tanks. The larger is the gray tank. It's not rocket science keep them both closed.

Just a note:
You should always keep the valve closed until you dump.
Otherwise the liquids would drain off the solids until the cross pipe was full.
That is unless you want to build a poop pyramids!
