Tow bar

First time with my toad. Is it better to leave the tow bar on my Jeep Wrangler or take it iffy and leave on my MH?

Thanks

"Better" is subjective and depends on the evaluating criteria.

I leave it on my toad when disconnecting but remove it from the toad if driving the toad anywhere.

Since I have a standard tow ball attaching tow bar I never leave it on the MH.

I've never taken ours off the mh.
Get a lock for it and it'll always be on there.
This looks about like what we have.

Only time my RoadMaster Sterling came off the MH was when it was towed last week. Tow truck driver was concerned about it scraping going down the road.

My Blue Ox always comes off and goes into a locked storage compartment. Out of sight... out of mind.

Mine too. Although I leave it on when we are traveling and living in the coach.

My tow bar is always on the Tuscany. I don't have anyway of holding it up on the F150 and wouldn't want to drive with it up there

It folds up nicely and if I am going to be in one spot for quite awhile then I put a cover on it or take it out of the receiver and store it

My tow bar is the low-end BlueOx basic
It doesn’t fold up nicely like the $800-1,000 tow bars.
So it’s kinda difficult to leave on the RV, and it’s not made to leave on my Chevy Spark.

If I’m staying at a campground, I generally remove from hitch and hide somewhere under my rig or inside the rear store compartment.

Bottomline, if you’re willing to spend the money on a high-end tow bar then you can fold it up in a stowed & locked position, with an included cover, while remaining on the RV hitch.

Our Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain stays on the MH. It has a locking pin in the receiver.

I never take my Blue Ox Off our MH. It folds up and locks into place. I then put the Blue Ox cover on it to protect it from the weather.

However you do it, lock it on,we stayed in a truck stop, one night, just traveling and the next morning we noticed the pins were pulled. Glad we do our walk around and now everything is locked. It may not stop everything, but it makes it harder.

Yes, I’ve suffered some mischief over the years as well. I carry spare pins and other parts that pranksters might find it amusing to take. Most recently somebody pulled the breakaway pin and took it. If I hadn’t purchased a spare I’d have had to travel with the brake system turned off. Not the end of the world but not ideal either.

Our Blue Ox always stays on the MH. We have a lock on it. Works nicely for us.
