Slide Out Cab-Over Twin Beds

Two adults sleeping in a typical Class C East-West cab-over bed can be a real challenge, right? If the person furthest in has to get up in middle of the night, or gets up earlier, they have to crawl over the other person, which can be very difficult for larger and or older adults due to limited headroom.

Jayco in Australia has a clever way to make twin “Slide Out Single” beds oriented North-South which makes it easier to climb in and out of bed; and without having to crawl over another person.

I had seen a similar design before in US in a much larger Class C motorhome that had a dedicated bedroom, but this Australian compact Jayco motorhome seems to rely on the slide out twin beds as their primary beds, allowing the motorhome to be much smaller; and hence lighter, more fuel efficient, better off road, etc.

What do you think? Is this extendable bed design an improvement over standard Class C cab-over bunk, whether used as primary or secondary bed(s)?

I found the US motorhome that offered twin bed option built over cab area. It was a Sunseeker, although there may be others I’m not aware of.

Floor plan list beds at 26” X 62” (“stored”) but doesn’t mention how long they would be if not stored.

This option would be interesting to see in a Thor 19G assuming beds could be made large enough for adults — like on Jayco above (28” X 75”).
